Carol Norris is a freelance writer and political activist, and is the former national organizer for CodePink. Her articles, essays, and satiric pieces on various political and social issues have been published worldwide in newspapers, magazines, books, textbooks, websites and heard on radio. She is currently the apple of many a gun-wielding hatemailer's eye and is in syndication in the day dreams of her mother.
Norris had initially thought of naming this blog "Ashcroft's Love Child" but realized she looks nothing like John - or Laura B. for that matter - and the resulting media frenzy and DNA testing promised both a prickly, painful extraction process and sounded generally too bothersome. So she sought consultation from the folks at Homeland Security.
After this fruitful meeting, she concluded, as she had suspected, that she needs to purge her wardrobe of all horizontally striped clothing, and that what she'd get from her proposed blog title would be a lifetime linked with John Ashcroft and the bountiful residuals from "Let the Eagle Soar." And while it was tempting, that was just a bit more residue than she wanted.
When not rousing the rabble (of which she is proud to name herself one) in the pages of a periodical probably nowhere remotely near you, or out in the streets in her favorite pink beehive wig, she is privileged and humbled to be a psychotherapist and stalwart advocate for her ever-inspiring clients in the San Francisco Bay Area.
As her great, great, great grandfather Thaddeus Norris, also a writer, once said: "What is writ is writ; would it were worthier."
